F.A.Q.

MEET VINCE THE CREATOR

HE IS THE CREATOR!

Vince was born in the same western Pennsylvania town as Perry Como. He spent his youth doodling in his schoolbooks and notebooks and still managed to graduate high school. After escaping high school he ran off to West Virginia where he went to college for the next four years. He studied art and got his comic strip "OH-NO" published for the first time. He also met the woman who would become his wife. In 2003 he graduated with a B.A. in Art from Davis & Elkins College and entered the crazy world of convenience stores and retail camera shops. This took most of his time keeping him from OH-NO. Come 2007 Vince landed himself a "NORMAL" job. He now works in an office building and has weekends and evenings. So with this new time, he has sharpened his pencils, cleaned his pens and bought some new ink and bristol board. OH-NO is now being updated on a weekly basis on Mondays and after a whole year online now has a fancy new site. Vince isn’t just going to rest with just a web comic either, over the coming months he will be submitting OH-NO to magazines newspapers and Philadelphia area periodicals. Vince now lives in the Philly Burbs with his wife Lorin.

About the Comic

Grrrr!

OH-NO was originally drawn as the exclusive comic for the Davis & Elkins College Senator (my college paper)and is now resurrected as a weekly webcomic and should also start appearing in print too. OH-NO is a single panel comic that has an ever changing cast. OH-NO is always drawn by hand with Pen & Ink and then it is scanned digitally and receives its color on my Macintosh.

E-MAIL ME WITH YOUR QUESTIONS FOR THE F.A.Q. ON THE CONTACT PAGE

Q. WHY OH-NO?

A. What do you say when something bad happens?

Q. WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR IDEAS?

A. Life, The Universe, Everything.

Q. WHAT IS IT LIKE BEING A PRO CARTOONIST?

A. How would I know? As of right now, I am doing this because I like to do this. Sure I would love for this to be my full time job, but for now it is a hobby that I hope will become a career.

Q. WHAT CARTOONIST HAVE INSPIRED YOU?

A. OOOH, well, lets see here. Charles Addams of course, Charles M. Shultz, Bill Waterson, Scott Adams, Jim Davis, Bill Amend, Gary Larson. This list could go on. I even gain new favorites almost daily. To see the list of my favorite comics CLICK HERE

Q. HOW DO YOU MAKE OH-NO?

A. I start by writing an idea down, on the back of a reciept, a post-it note what have you. If the idea survives it gets placed in the sacred sketch book. If the sketch is picked, well then I draw it onto a 11"x8 1/2" piece of card stock with a Blue Sanford mechanical pencil (the blue will not scan into gray scale thus saving me from erasing, yay!). I then ink it with a speed ball pen and I use a sharpie fine for the border and sometimes a sharpie ultra fine for lettering. After it has dried I then scan it into my Mac. I use Photoshop Elements (cant afford the full version) to color it and to make it web ready. And thats it. Hmm, this looks like a big crummy commercial. Well if you are the makers of these fine products, and want to pay me to link to you, just e-mail me. He He He.
